People know Megan Mullally can do bawdy humor—she won two Emmys for playing the boozy, pill-popping Karen Walker on Will & Grace and has done multiple stints on Broadway—but it’s her weird, subtle comedy that makes you laugh and say “WTF” at the same time. Her new musical duo, Nancy and Beth, falls into the latter category. Along with actress Stephanie Hunt, the two perform a combination of ’70s folk songs, original compositions, and a little bit of situational humor in their shows. But it wouldn’t be a live show without the element of surprise, and Nancy and Beth are known to bust out a few unexpected tunes from time to time. (See their cover of Riskay’s classic “Smell Yo’ Dick,” which recently went viral.) When they play at the Birchmere, I’m hoping for a rendition of R. Kelly’s “Feelin’ On Yo’ Booty.”

Nancy and Beth perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Birchmere, 3701 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria. $29.50. (703) 549-7500. birchmere.com.
