There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
A PUBLIC NOTICE: Pursuant to Districtwide Scene Ordinance X, all Authority-approved cultural events must include the following: one food truck; one restaurant opening; one mixed-media installation by at least one artist with an advanced degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art; EITHER DJ Kid Congo Powers OR DJ Name Names; and one Brendan Canty. Hereby the grand opening of 14th Street NW bar Black Whiskey is APPROVED. Please alert the Logan Circle Scene Authority should you not find both DJs playing mid– to late 20th-century music (“soul” or “rock ‘n’ roll” ONLY). A special dispensation has been provided for two MICA-certified artists: Both Cheyenne Seeley and Zach Storm, creators of the installation “Cult Fiction,” matriculated from the accredited arts institution. Their participation is certified by Logan Circle arts nonprofit Transformer. Chef-owner Darren Norris of Kushi Izakaya has been APPROVED to preside over the grand opening of Black Whiskey. Kushi-Moto food truck has been APPROVED to dispense its wares at this engagement. Brendan Canty has been APPROVED to perform late-20th-century/early-21st-century music (“post-punk” ONLY) with the ensemble Deathfix. The Authority reminds all District residents that the penalty for failing to attend approved cultural events is relocation for reorientation.
