Yo, if you follow the Wu-Tang Clan on Facebook you know that certain days of the week are already reserved for specific categories: Tuesdays are for “Wu-Mamis,” under-30 females of various ethnic backgrounds who take selfies while wearing Wu-Tang T-shirts. Maybe a little blunt smoke enters the frame, but generally, it’s all sort of tasteful. Thursdays are for pictures of people’s Wu-Tang tattoos but I don’t really look at that shit. Most of the time it’s some dude’s flabby forearm photographed by an old-ass Nokia. Wednesdays are for music, which is the Wu-Tang Clan’s core competency. So it’s subculturally appropriate that the Satellite Room—that place next to the 9:30 Club with the alcoholic milkshakes—is hosting its own “Wu-Tang Wednesdays.” Now, instead of hearing some obscure U-God cut on your computer while eating corn chips, you can go to the Satellite Room and share in some communal Wu-ness. And Wu-themed cocktails. PEACE TO KID MERO AND HANDS OF ZEUS.
Wu-Tang Wednesday begins at 10 p.m. every Wednesday at The Satellite Room, 2047 9th St. NW. Free. (202) 506-2496. satellitedc.com.
