Success! You're on the list.

At a time when summer music festivals have fallen into the grip of corporate entities like Virgin, Vans, and Perry Farrell (who is basically just shilling for tequila and C3 at this point), it’s easy to forget that people in the DIY set also love daylong throwdowns—sans the ad blitz and keg-stand atmosphere. Good thing there’s Fest Too, an all-ages, three-day bash that aims to unite the punk and indie-rock scenes of D.C., Baltimore, and Richmond. The June festival kicks off with a spate of small shows scattered around the outer DMV area, but most of the events are centralized at The Lab in Alexandria. In addition to showcasing more than seven hours of alternative jams from stellar area bands including indie rockers Ambulars (shown), pop-punk outfit Monument, and shouty punx Mobius Strip, the Lab will also host an art exhibit and a clutch of DIY workshops. Best of all, three-day passes are only $20—and you won’t have to stare at a Jumbotron to feel close to the action.

Fest Too runs from June 20 to June 22 at various venues in Maryland and Virginia. Admission prices vary. festtoo.tumblr.com.
