Part of what makes the Capital Fringe Festival so exciting is the fast pace at which some of its productions develop. This year’s festival just wrapped, but Taffety Punk Theatre Company won’t let the zany die: Today, the scrappy troupe unveils another installment in its Bootleg Shakespeare series. As usual, the company will rehearse, stage, and present a production of a Shakespeare work—all in one day. This year Taffety has picked the Bard’s Love’s Labours Lost, a comedy about a king and his three companions who get distracted from years of study by a pretty-pretty princess and her maidens. It’s one of Shakespeare’s most lighthearted works, so who knows—maybe its sure-to-be-rough edges will make for even better comedy.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. at the Folger Shakespeare Theatre, 201 East Capitol St. SE. Free.(202) 355-9441. taffetypunk.com.
