Congress may not be able to get its shit together, but D.C. residents don’t have to play dead until it does. Let the fall festivals continue! At this year’s Columbia Heights Day, begin the morning with a free yoga class from Kali Yoga, then stick around for musical performances, a Mad Momos–sponsored dumpling-eating contest, and a D.C.-centric trivia contest with the Quizmaster of Georgia Avenue. The festival is also hosting a petting zoo featuring animals that are much better behaved than the beasts on Capitol Hill. Columbia Heights Day runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Harriet Tubman Elementary School, 11th and Kenyon streets NW. Free. columbiaheightsday.org.
