Everyone has it—that “Dear Journal” moment recounting in excruciating detail their great shame from middle school, high school, college, or starter marriage. For years, brave journalers have purged these horrifying (yet oddly compelling) tales in front of an audience as part of the “Mortified Live” shows. Now the series has added another vortex of shame-sharing: Mortified Nation, the documentary. The Mortified crew is on a national tour with the film in tow; tonight’s local premiere at the D.C. Jewish Community Center will be followed by a Q-and-A with the filmmakers and a happy hour with members of the Mortified D.C. community. This is an advance ticketed event, so if you can’t get in—or prefer to cringe in the comfort of your own home—the film is available on Amazon and iTunes beginning Nov. 5. The film shows at 3 p.m. at the Washington D.C. Jewish Community Center, 1529 16th St. NW. $15 in advance. (202) 518-9400. washingtondcjcc.org.
