It is no wonder ambient artist Oneohtrix Point Never chose an image from Georges Schwizgebel’s 1982 animated short film The Rapture Of Frank N Stein for the cover of his most recent LP, R Plus Seven. It’s a visual extension of the artist’s music: gorgeous, macabre, and something akin to sleepwalking through a labyrinth of dark rooms and repetitive corridors. R Plus Seven is plenty cinematic on its own, though. “Zebra” begins as glitchy electro before it slowly dissolves into a wash of hushed synths, jungle noises, and disjointed saxophones; on the Koji Kondo–esque “Problem Areas,” you may imagine yourself wandering down one of Schwizgebel’s neverending hallways. It’s an experience more evocative than a film alone. Oneohtrix Point Never performs at 8 p.m. at Atlas Performing Arts Center, 1333 H St. NE. $18. (202) 399-7993. atlasarts.org.
