Peanut butter and chocolate. Red and green plaid shirts. Eating spaghetti while taking a bath? OK, not every mashup works, but remix musicians the Hood Internet have perfected the art. Armed with laptops and wildly open minds, DJs ABX and STV SLV mash indie rock, pop, rap, and R&B into an aural pulp that sounds best in crowded, sweaty clubs. Ever wanted to hear Drake and Jay Z spitting verses together? Yearning to experience Digital Underground harmonizing with St. Vincent? If so, you’re in luck—that’s exactly what the Hood Internet has pre-loaded into their playlists. To date, the duo has mixed nearly 400 tracks, garnered millions of downloads, and incited dance riots at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, SXSW, CMJ, and Canadian Music Week. You don’t need to hit the festival circuit to get dancey, though—just head to U Street Music Hall. The Hood Internet performs with Oscillator Bug and Junior Prom at 10 p.m. at U Street Music Hall, 1115 U St. NW. $12. (202) 588-1880. ustreetmusichall.com.
