As Panda Bear, Animal Collective founding member Noah Lennox mixes noisy pop experiments with fantastical lyrics about parents ripping off their limbs and aversions to tempura. Though he’s been creating music under the Panda Bear moniker since 1999, 2011’s Tomboy channeled a new, ghostly affect that’ll give Friday’s show at 9:30 Club a laidback vibe. In between Tomboy and his new album, Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper, set to drop sometime in 2015, Lennox has collaborated with a string of other music-makers, including a guest spot with Daft Punk on Random Access Memories. And if a heaping helping of electronic noise seems slightly overwhelming, opening act Regal Degal’s lo-fi garage-rock sound will make up for Lennox’s quiet wails. Panda Bear performs with Regal Degal and Geologist at 8 p.m. at 9:30 Club, 815 V St. NW. $25. (202) 265-0930. 930.com.
