The holiday season has arrived, and with it come repeated screenings of films that insist December is the most romantic month of the year. Whether it’s a Hallmark Channel original or a decades-old classic, these movies introduce the possibility that we’ll meet our next great love sometime between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve. If that premise sounds preposterous, allow Washington Improv Theater to set things straight. As part of its annual Seasonal Disorder show, the company presents Improv Actually, a Love Actually-inspired show featuring intersecting romantic storylines set in D.C. And since the stories change throughout the show’s run, you can laugh at a potential meet-cute on the Dupont Circle Metro escalator one night and bickering couples in Petworth the next. The exact details won’t become clear until the show begins, but you’ll almost certainly hear Mariah Carey belt out “All I Want for Christmas Is You” before leaving the theater. Who needs mistletoe? The show runs Dec. 4 through Dec. 27 at Source, 1835 14th St. NW. $12–$30. (202) 204-7770. witdc.org.
