If you thought the best place to hash out old familial wounds was in the therapist’s office, well, you’re probably right. But that doesn’t stop storyteller Peter Aguero from treating his time onstage like a therapy session. During Daddy Issues, his current show, Aguero talks openly and honestly about the difficult relationship he has with his father in seven separate tales that range in tone from humorous to sobering and insightful. As a popular Moth host and champion in New York City, Aguero’s had plenty of time to hone his storytelling stuff. And, in a way, he’s been concocting the show’s stories for his entire life: Aguero’s parents’ tumultuous relationship, which greatly altered his view of the world, forms the backbone of the piece. Plus, as Aguero once told the Rumpus, sharing these stories is therapeutic and much more cost-effective than hours spent being analyzed on a couch. The performances begin at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Artisphere, 1101 Wilson Blvd., Arlington. $15. (703) 875-1100. artisphere.com.
