D.C. biscuit lovers suffered a major loss this year when the Popeye’s at 14th and N streets NW closed in late July. But don’t worry: Not only will Popeye’s reopen across the street in early 2015, two new teams of chefs have also brought fancier biscuits to the District. After raising more than $28,000 on Kickstarter, Mason Dixie Biscuit Company started dishing out its baked goods at the Dolcezza Factory and Roofer’s Union before taking up temporary residency at Park View “pop-uppery” EatsPlace. (They’ve since moved on to Union Market.) Close on Mason Dixie’s heels, Biscuit Lab Baking Co. started serving their biscuits from Lyman’s Tavern every Sunday morning. Both companies plan to open their own shops in the future, but for now, be glad you can only be tempted by these butter bombs a few days a week.
