During Capital Pride, you’ll see fit and flexible people baring all kinds of skin, whether you’re at a dance party or on the parade route. And this year, a team of aerialists from Sweet Spot Aerial Productions celebrates Pride with an emotional coming-out story that takes place in midair. In Where I Belong: Finding Myself Under a Big Top, a man comes to in the afterlife surrounded by the sinners he once thought should go straight to hell. But as he explores his new space, where circus performers freely roam, he begins to question those previous thoughts and expectations about gender, hatred, and love. Soon enough, he ends up in a circus, performing with the people he’d previously slandered as he begins to explore the ins and outs of queer identity. That’s hard enough to do with two feet on the ground. The performance runs June 5 to June 6 at Atlas Performing Arts Center, 1333 H St. NE. $29.99. (202) 399-7993. atlasarts.org.
