Law enforcement officials are investigating a death in McPherson Square.

A “death investigation” is underway in the downtown park, according to a spokesperson for the U.S. Park Police. A Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson says it responded to a call for a “man down” at 11:20 a.m. No additional details were available. 

Just before 1 p.m., the deceased person was still laying on a bench under a white sheet. Part of the park was cordoned off by yellow police tape, and officials from MPD and Park Police were on the scene.
