On Tuesday, May 17, CÎROC’s Drink Of Summer mixology contest pitted eight bartenders from various restaurants in the District against one another. The event, which was originally slated for Penthouse Pool Club, was moved indoors to Clyde’s of Gallery Place because of inclement weather.

The panel of three judges was tasked with tasting eight different cocktails to choose only one winner. Two representatives from the CÎROC team and one person from Washington City Paper judged the drinks use of product, originality, presentation, and most importantly taste.

Attendees took part in judging their favorite and voted for the People’s Choice winner.

CÎROC’s Drink of Summer winner was Blackbeard’s Surrender by Frank Mills of Jack Rose Dining Saloon

When the judges handed over their scoring sheets, the decision was unanimous: CÎROC’s Drink of Summer winner was Blackbeard’s Surrender by Frank Mills of Jack Rose Dining Saloon. The cocktail tasted like a tiki drink and was beautifully presented. It contains CÎROC Pineapple Vodka, orgeat syrup, freshly squeezed lemon, and a dash of Bittermens Orange Cream Citrate, and is topped with sparkling blackberry juice. Judges said that made the perfect tasty treat for summer. CÎROC’s official Drink of Summer is now available all season long at Jack Rose.

The People’s Choice winner was created by STK’s in-house mixologist, Heidi Bratton. Her creation, Pomaceous Kisses, featured CÎROC’s newest flavor, CÎROC Apple.
