Swing by The Black Squirrel in Adams Morgan (2427 18th St. NW) Friday through Sunday to try craft beer and Halloween candy pairings. Pumpkin beer will be flowing from the taps and check the screens for a movie marathon of Freddy Krueger flicks. More info.
Takoma Park’s Republic (6939 Laurel Ave.) is hosting a ’90s Zombie Prom Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The best dressed his and hers costume will win a $150 gift card. There will be food and drink specials all night long. More info.
Compass Rose (1346 T St. NW) is celebrating Frida Khalo in all her eye-browed glory during a Saturday night house party kicking off at 11 p.m. as a part of the restaurant’s Divas from the Dead Halloween weekend. DJs will spin old school hip hop. More info.
Bluejacket in Navy Yard (300 Tingey St. SE) is hosting a DJ-fueled Halloween bash Saturday night starting at 10 p.m. Winners of the costume contest will win dining credits at Bluejacket/Birch & Barley/ChurchKey. More info.
Break out your pirate costume and head to Eat The Rich (1839 7th St. NW) Friday-Saturday because if you’re dressed convincingly you can get 15 percent off your bill. Pirate weekend at the Shaw bar means there will be a rum-focused cocktail menu. More info.
The Reading Room inside Petworth Citizen (829 Upshur St. NW) isn’t taking break from its Friday and Saturday night literary themed cocktail parties headed up by Chantal Tseng. This weekend’s author muse is none other than Stephen King. Drinks are served from 7 p.m. to midnight. More info.
