The wood-fired oven at Timber Pizza Co. in Petworth has seen a lot of dough, from fancy pizzas to empanadas. Now the oven will also be used for brunch. Chef Daniela Moreira employs it to crisp up bagels, biscuits, other pastries, and breakfast empanadas.
Making pastries in a wood-fired oven isn’t new to Moreira, who grew up in Argentina. There, the chef would use backyard ovens in her neighborhood to make various treats.
Her za’atar biscuits ($3) topped with house-made jam (50 cents) are a can’t-miss.
Timber Pizza Co.’s brunch hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tea, coffee, micheladas, and mimoas are available to drink. Check out the menu below.
