For the first episode of our new podcast, we present D.C. 101—backbone information for future listening, delivered by the most Washington of Washingtonians. This is Eleanor Holmes Norton, D.C.’s 14-term congresswoman. She recently celebrated her 80th birthday, and is a 3rd generation resident of the city. We talked about what the past year in Congress has meant for D.C., how she advocates for the District’s interests, and some of the issues facing the city and its residents—gun control, statehood, and development.
