As we prepare to put out our annual Buy D.C. gift guide, we’ve been thinking about local business and the city’s creative class. D.C.-area natives and long-time members of that creative class Frankie and Sherry Meneses founded Soul & Ink, a mobile screen printing company that has taken them everywhere from New York to Germany. The couple talked to City Paper’s Stephanie Rudig about their work, the state of creativity in D.C., and social justice and the arts. Listen to the pair reflect on the so-called “squares” in the District, their collaborations with local distilleries, and more.
