Test out Timber Pizza Co.’s new pop-up space this weekend in Petworth at a dance party that asks guests to put away their phones and be present while bopping to a soundtrack of early 2000s hip-hop and R&B.
Don’t worry, this isn’t a Dave Chappelle show—nobody will zip your phone into a little phone jail sack that only security can unlock. But, organizers are dead serious about putting away technology. They’re going for face time, not FaceTime.
The event Saturday night is the first in a series of “Put Down The Phone Club” parties planned in D.C. headed up by Maya Oren of MOJALVO.
It runs from 6 p.m. to midnight and takes place at the brand new Timberbox space directly across from the pizzeria. Tickets are $45 and include two drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), snacks, and Timber Pizza Co. pizza.
Disposable cameras will be circulated throughout the event and the photos will be posted on Put Down The Phone Club’s Instagram account and as a downloadable gallery on Pixieset. This event is 21 and up.
