Attention Jews and gentiles with winning recipes—Call Your Mother is crowdsourcing part of its menu. The “Jew-ish” deli bound for Park View later this summer from the Timber Pizza Co. team wants District residents to feel like they’ve played a role in shaping their new neighborhood go-to.

If you think your corned beef hash, matzo ball soup, rugelach, tuna salad sandwich, or any other deli or deli-inspired dish deserves to go prime time, submit your recipe to Andrew@callyourmotherdeli.com by Aug. 15. Each customer behind a winning recipe will get to help name their dish and will get to eat their dish for free for a year.

“Every time we tell people we are opening a deli, they tell us about their childhood deli, or their favorite deli from back home,” founder Andrew Dana says. “We want people to be able to put their personal stamp of home or their childhood on Call Your Mother. It would be cool if we could have a few recipes that come from the neighborhood so people feel that personal connection.”

Call Your Mother will specialize in wood-fired bagels, which have already started making appearances at farmers markets including Silver Spring on Saturdays and Dupont Circle on Sundays. Dana has called them a cross between Montreal and New York bagels.

The morning menu will feature the bagels and breakfast sandwiches. In the afternoon, the deli will offer a lunch menu of sandwiches. For dinner, Call Your Mother will morph into an experimental supper club serving anything from New York pizza to Peking duck.
