City Paper‘s Fiction Issue will return on January 3, in print and online. (You can read it online now!) Each winning story takes the reader deep into D.C. neighborhoods and offers a glimpse at what life is like in the District. 

From nearly 50 entries, we’ve selected three to run in print and three more to run online, and to celebrate, we’re hosting a free reading at Solid State Books, 600 H Street NE. 

The event will kick off at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6. Expect to hear from the issue’s guest editor, Tayla Burney, and the winning authors, who will read from their stories.
