City Paper is overjoyed to welcome new publisher Katy McKegney, who starts work today. She’s coming to us from The Hill, where she’s been director of advertising since 2014. At City Paper, she’ll be running the paper’s signature events, launching new ones, developing partnerships, directing sales, and everything else it takes to run the business side of a local newspaper.

Last fall City Paper survived a dramatic three-month sale process when local venture capitalist, philanthropist, and sports team-owner Mark Ein bought the paper in late December. Since then, Ein has opened a sports department, reinstated the freelance budget, and brought new energy to the paper’s events program. Now he’s taken his biggest step yet in hiring McKegney.

Ein has spoken often about his commitment to developing a business model for local news outlets. He’s tapped McKegney to play a leading role in solving that puzzle here at City Paper

“In today’s political climate, it’s so important to support local journalism, and I’m honored to be able to do that at City Paper,” says McKegney.

City Paper is honored to have you!
