City Paper has an opening for a business development manager. Working with the sales team, and leveraging a consultative approach, you will build strategic relationships with new and existing clients. You understand the value proposition of our offerings and brand. You seek to find creative solutions to help our clients meet their branding and marketing goals and have a solid grasp on advertising tactics and trends, as well as an understanding of the nuances of the D.C. market.
The role:

Identify, research, and reach out to prospective clients (including cold calling new prospects).

Be strategic in building up a pipeline of new and existing accounts.

Own the business development process from end-to-end with support from WCP sales, operations, and marketing staff.

Set up meetings, visits, and presentations with top-level decision makers to share WCP’s partnership opportunities across digital and print platforms, and our events business.

Establish a positive and trusting relationship with your clients and your team at City Paper.
The requirements:

Three to five years experience in business development at a media organization or related industry; established relationships with key agencies and clients a plus.

Ability to think creatively, strategically, and BIG about advertising and sponsorship solutions

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Comfort presenting to high-level audiences

Energetic and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic.

Able to work both independently and in a team environment

Organized, able to pay attention to detail, results-oriented
