A 20-year-old male inmate in the DC Jail tested positive for COVID-19, the D.C. Department of Corrections announced after midnight on Thursday.

The inmate was previously housed in a single-occupancy cell in the Correctional Treatment Facility, according to the DOC. He is now in isolation in the infirmary and is being monitored according Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

The DOC’s medical department is working with Unity Health Care and DC Health to trace the inmate’s previous contact, DOC’s announcement says.
